Hot start for Sons of the Forest with 2 million sales in 24 hours

The studio’s Twitter account announcement business as usual, but you can imagine the excitement (and pressure) Endnight Games feels when it clocks 2 million sales in the space of 24 hours. To compare, TheForest had passed the 5 million sales mark after four years of early access and a few months of official release, just before its PS4 port. Although still devoid of any narrative context and apparently still stingy in content, as some players deplore in Steam evaluations, this sequel is therefore off to an explosive foundation.

Survival at all costs

With a peak of 414,257 simultaneous users, the game even imposes itself in front of a cador of the genre like Ark: Survival Evolved (248,405 simultaneous players) while approaching the Valheim phenomenon (502,387 simultaneous players). It is also the second largest peak achieved on Steam this year after Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy (879,308 simultaneous players). Failing to have communicated a roadmap, Endnight Games estimates that early access should last between 6 and 8 months. “Along with bug fixes and improvements to core balance and gameplay, we plan to add more objects, more things you can 3D print, more things to build and discover, and game mechanics and more lore“, can we read.

Sons of the Forest begins with a crash on a wild island as the player aims to track down a missing billionaire. Alone or with up to 7 other players in cooperation, over the cycle of the seasons, it will be necessary to master the system of construction and harvest to fight against hunger, thirst and of course a cohort of monstrosities and cannibals. A quest that can be carried out in the company of Kelvin, an amnesiac soldier whose artificial intelligence has already caused as many laughs as tears, and Virginia, a young woman with more legs and arms than the average, whose sympathy the player can gain.
