In 2019, Hidetaka Suehiro aka Swery65 (Deadly Premonition) and Goichi Suda aka Suda51 (No More Heroes) announced their partnership with Devolver Digital to develop Hotel Barcelona, a low-budget horror project. Postponed then forgotten, it resurfaced at the end of the presentation Xbox At Tokyo Game Show 2023in a new form and a priori without its former publisher.
Led by the new entity White Owls Incit will be written and directed by Swery65on an original idea of Suda51which would therefore be a little further behind production. Hotel Barcelona will take the form of a 2.5D action game parodying horror films. It will pit us against grotesque creatures, from bizarre alien entities to AI-enhanced sharks to a giant doll puppet, as our heroine is stuck in an endless time loop filled with serial killersand where we can call on our deceased version of the past to help us.
The first trailer for gameplay portends a happy, slightly gory mess, which we will discover on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in 2024. The Xbox Series S is available from €299.00 on Amazon.com.
