Hotel bed occupancy – tourism in Kaprun becomes more manageable

After the upper room limit for new accommodation establishments was halved in the city of Salzburg in 2020, other municipalities in Salzburg are now following suit. Same with Kaprun.

The Pinzgau municipality of Kaprun also submitted the necessary application for March. In contrast to the city of Salzburg, there will be no upper bed limit in Kaprun. “It is still possible to build larger hotels, but such a project is now simply subject to greater scrutiny,” said Manfred Gassner, Mayor of Kaprun (SPÖ). The reason for this measure is a targeted counteracting of “overtourism” and the desire for a say for the local communities.
