Hours of work – forest fire in Serfaus extinguished: cleaning up continues

A forest fire in the Tyrolean Serfaus, which had kept several fire brigades and the mountain rescue service in the Landeck district in suspense since Friday, was finally extinguished around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, the clean-up work continued into the evening hours.

The fire, which was noticed on Friday, is likely to be due to a lightning strike eleven days ago. The fire brigade had to move out on July 28th. It is assumed that embers dug deep into the ground and ignited again. 70 emergency services in action Until Sunday, the fire brigades in the area worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire. A total of around 70 emergency services were involved. Two helicopters were also requested for this. The fire area is located in the so-called Upper Court. In the rough terrain, the firefighters sometimes have to be secured by the mountain rescue team.
