Bad surprise when a couple came home on Christmas Eve in Kremsmünster (Upper Austria): Because they had forgotten to put out the candles on the Advent wreath, it caught fire. The dining table also burned through and three fire departments had to be called out.
The couple left their single-family home in Kremsmünster around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. As it turned out later: without extinguishing the candles on the Advent wreath at the dining table. It wasn’t until five hours later that the two residents returned home – and immediately alerted the fire department because they noticed heavy smoke.
