I cannot forget that it was here, in Quincié, in the cellar, that I learned the pleasure of conversation. I know that a place awaits me in the cemetery in my parents’ grave. I know I will be buried in Quincié. It’s not sad to think about it, I’m not immortal“he indicated to Progressin 2018.

If we still do not know the date of Bernard Pivot’s funeral, it has indeed been confirmed by the mayor of Quincié-en-Beaujolais at Figaro that they will be held in this commune. Remember that if he had to sell it in 2023 “for personal reasons“, this house, Bernard Pivot spent many wonderful years there, calling it his “corner of paradise” as recalled Paris Match in its issue of this Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He spent the end of year holidays and summers there with his family. This large residence, in bourgeois style, is surrounded by a vast garden, but also by vineyards. As well as a swimming pool, which he had built in 1974 after being fired from the newspaper Le Figaroalthough he had served there since 1958. It was thanks to his allowances that he was able to cover this expense.
Let us finally point out that Bernard Pivot was the former presenter of Apostrophes, this cult program from the mid-1970s to the very beginning of the 1990s. He also presented Bouillon de culture from 1991 to 2001. It is he, as a great gentleman of literature, who popularized literary programs on television.
