House of the Dragon: fire and blood for the season 2 trailer


Season 2 of House of the Dragon arrives in summer 2024.

A smell of sulfur floats over Westeros… and in the first trailer for season 2 of House of the Dragon, unveiled during the CCXP in Sao Paulo this weekend. On the program for these new images from the spin-off of Game Of Thrones : a family war, blood, fire and dragons.

Warning, the rest of this article contains spoilers for season 1 of House of the Dragon.

Dragon versus dragon

Remember: Season 1 ended with the death of King Viserys. While Rhaenyra expected to inherit her father’s title, the young prince Aegon (son of Alicent Hightower) was proclaimed the new Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and placed on the Throne as Aegon II Targaryen.

A conflict around the crown which will lead to a new war for the Iron Throne, between Rhaenyra, Daemon Targaryen and their dragons on one side, and Alicent, her allies… and her own dragons on the other.

As a reminder, House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of the series Game Of Thronesand looks back on the great period of the Targaryen family, from which Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) come.

If season 1 notably narrated the conflict between Rhaenyra and Alicent, friends who became enemies, season 2 will focus more on their children. A rise in power of the “young guard” which promises to raise the stakes, the action and the spectacle at all levels.

Co-written and produced by the creator of Game Of ThronesGeorge RR Martin, and Ryan J. Condal (Colony), this season 2 is directed by Condal. Aired in August 2022, the first season had the best start of all time for an HBO series, and received nine nominations for the prestigious Emmy Awards.
