Renewal expected

No one should be surprised by this news, because House of the Dragon is one of HBO’s flagship series since its beginnings. The series was also renewed for a season 2 just one week after its release in 2022, and the very first episode of the show was the most watched in the history of the channel and its streaming platform, Max.

According to Varietythe first season of House of the Dragon was able to count on an average audience of 29 million spectators per episode on HBO and in streaming. Season 2, which starts this Sunday across the Atlantic, has already amassed a large number of rave reviews and should also attract audiences in droves.

Ourselves at The Digitals, we were rather dazzled by the resounding return of the series. As a reminder, House of the Dragon is created by Ryan Condal and the author of Game Of ThronesGeorge RR Martin, and relates the bloody history of the Targaryen family.

Upon announcing its renewal, Francesca Orsi, vice president of programming at HBO, said: “George, Ryan and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast and crew have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House of the Dragon.” “We are amazed by the tremendous effort put in by the entire team to create a spectacular second season, matched in scope and scale only in heart. We couldn’t be more excited to continue the story of House Targaryen and see this team shine again for a third season.”

House of the Dragon season 2 premieres June 17 on Max.

Franchise Game Of Thrones therefore still has a bright future ahead of it on HBO, especially since many other spin-off series are in preparation for the channel and its streaming service. So it’s not tomorrow that we won’t hear about Westeros again.
