While she has just left House of the Dragon for good after five episodes in the skin of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Milly Alcock challenges the male fans of the series who oppose her to Emily Carey (Lady Alicent).

The young star who plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen explained in an article published last Wednesday that some fans don’t seem to understand that their behaviors echo the gender disparities highlighted in the series.
She pointed out that her character’s friendship with Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) is strained by the very patriarchal world their characters live in – a conflict highlighted in the show.
“House of the Dragon shines a light on the patriarchy, misogyny, but also the internalized misogyny these two women are forced to deal with“, she told the magazine. “They are forced to be opposed to each other by the choices of men“.
And to add:But what I found quite hilarious is that the fans also put the actresses in competition with each other, and decide who is the best. Another judgment of a majority of men. It’s very ironic.“

This is the first time that the Australian actress has participated in a series of such magnitude. And she bluntly expresses the difficulties and the violence of such an exhibition: “It’s like a part-time job.
