Launched at the end of August, House of the Dragon – the Game of Thrones prequel series – is already coming mid-season. In just five episodes, the drama managed to retain its audience and introduced new characters that fans quickly grew attached to.
Milly Alcock, who plays the role of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is one of these new icons that viewers have come to love over the episodes. However, the passage of the actress in the series is already over and she spoke on social networks to share her emotion.
The broadcast of the fifth episode marks the final appearance of the young Australian actress as Rhaenyra, heiress to the Iron Throne. Starting next week, it will be Emma D’Arcy who will take over the role of the older Princess Targaryen, after the series marks a ten-year time jump.
Milly Alcock shared several behind-the-scenes images of the series on Instagram just before the broadcast of this fifth episode across the Atlantic. They include real moments of complicity between her and Emily Carey who will also be replaced in the next episode by Olivia Cooke.
She also reveals a short video of a giggle with Emily Carey during a take that failed. And a whole series of photos including Matt Smith, Milly Alcock perched on a saddle in front of a blue backdrop to shoot a dragon scene and another hilarious one of Fabien Frankel in Criston Cole’s armor taking a nap in an armchair, open mouth.
For her big departure, she will have had an epic finale with a wedding that turns into a fiasco, a sort of nod to the famous purple wedding of Game of Thrones.
