House of the Dragon on OCS: Olivia Cooke (Alicent) had a hangover on the first day of filming

We just got to know Olivia Cooke who takes over the role of Alicent after Emily Carey in episode 6 of House of the Dragon. The British actress made surprising confidences on her first day of filming.

Since episode 6 of House of the Dragon, it is Olivia Cooke who embodies the character of Alicent Hightower, the former best friend of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Role she took over following Emily Carey who played her during the first five episodes.

Invited on the set of Jimmy Kimmel, in the show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, to explain this jump in time made in the series and therefore this change of performers, Olivia Cooke gave herself up to some confidences to say the least surprising. The latter admitted that she was not quite ready for her first day of filming. She explained to the host that she started the day with a hangover and a broken tooth:

I had a hell of a hangover. Really bad, actually. Really bad.

The reason for this intoxication? The actress says she appeared on Alan Carr’s “Life’s a Beach” podcast, where they had one glass of wine too many. “I never do that, but there’s this comedian in England that I love, Alan Carr, and he has a podcast. He invited me to participate and I was very excited“, she explains.

And my summons to the set the next day wasn’t until 11, so I brought a bottle of wine, just to make a move. The podcast ended, and we just chatted, chatted.“Then she says that more and more wine started flowing.”He tells me lots of gossip. More wine, more wine, more wine. I don’t remember going home“, she says.

I remember lowering my head to make a ponytail, I fell. She continues:I woke up the next day and had a broken tooth. A little chip, but I felt it under my tongue. And you say to yourself: ‘What have I done?’. No one found out on set…until now.

An unconventional introduction for the 28-year-old actress, who became known to the general public with the Bates Motel series and then on a larger scale in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One.

House of the Dragon is available on OCS.
