House of the Dragon: the two interpreters of Rhaenyra were not allowed to meet!

Milly Alcock, the interpreter of Princess Rhaenyra in the series “House of the Dragon”, reveals that she was forbidden to meet Emma D’Arcy, who also lends her features to the character, before the filming of the prequel to “Game of Thrones”.

Mentioned many times by the production, this detail on the plot of the program cannot therefore be considered a spoiler: a time jump of several decades will indeed take place during the sixth episode of the House of the series. Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel!

On this occasion, several characters will change interpreters, such as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Currently camped by Australian actress Milly Alcock, the heir to the Iron Throne will thus be embodied from episode 6 by Emma D’Arcy.

But while it would have seemed logical for the two interpreters of Rhaenyra to meet before filming to discuss the role, Milly Alcock revealed to our colleagues at HollywoodReporter having been forbidden by the production to cross paths with her counterpart.

Emma and I wanted to meet, so we offered co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik to set up a meeting to discuss Rhaenyra’s evolution. But he didn’t want to, which was really interesting! So we never discussed the role together. Miguel encouraged us to follow our own inspiration, because he didn’t want us to model our performances on each other’s.

Taking place 172 years before the plot of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon retraces the history of the Targaryen clan. The series begins when King Viserys I occupies the Iron Throne, and must designate an heir. The crown is particularly coveted by his brother Daemon, but also by his cousin Rhaenys Targaryen.

Episodes of the House of the Dragon series are offered every Monday exclusively on OCS City and on the OCS on demand platform.
