House of the Dragon: where and when will the Game of Thrones spin-off season 2 be broadcast?

The first season of House of the Dragon has ended on OCS, but how long will we have to wait before the broadcast of season 2?

The broadcast of episode 10 – whose review and spoilers are available – from House of the Dragon on OCS marked the end of the first season of the spin-off of Game Of Thrones, but HBO already announced the renewal of the prequel a while ago. This means thatthere will definitely be a season 2 of House of the Dragon, the question being where and when it will air. Like the first season, it’s on OCS that the sequel will be available, still on demand, a few hours after its broadcast in the United States, and in prime time broadcast on Monday evenings at 9 p.m. Unfortunately, no precise date has yet been revealed, and it is likely that we will have to wait for several months before having news or even the first images of season 2 of House of the Dragon. The good news being that filming has already started, and that it should be finished by the summer of 2023.

It is therefore during 2024 that fans can expect to discover season 2 of the spin-off of Game Of Thrones, in which they will find most of the characters of the first season. Watch out for spoilers on episode 10 below. The season ended with a crucial death in the Targaryen family, which will undoubtedly precipitate the war which will later be dubbed the Dance of the Dragons. Despite the restraint that Alicent and Rhaenyra were able to show, the young Aemond Targaryen was unable to control his dragon, which devoured Lucerys in the sky. And the death of Rhaenyra’s son is more than enough reason for the latter, who has also been usurped by her half-brother Aegon, to decide to open hostilities.

Who will star in House of the Dragon Season 2?

Season 2 therefore promises to be bloody, with a conflict that will oppose the Greens and the Blacks who will compete for the Iron Throne but also for their personal revenge. Based on the book Fire and Blood by George RR Martin, the series will continue to feature Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, which will therefore always be present. Unlike the first season which went through two time jumps and the casting changes that accompanied it, the sequel is expected to keep the same actors in the same roles. Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke should therefore return to their roles, just like Matt Smith in that of Daemon or even Eve Best as Rhaenys. It is also possible that new characters are introduced but for that, it will be necessary to wait some time, the time that HBO gives official news.
