House of the Dragon renewed for a third season

Based on the book Fire & Blood by George RR Martin, House of the Dragon is set approximately 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, in the golden age of the Targaryen dynasty that rules Westeros. The first season introduced viewers to the various members of the powerful dragon family and set the stage for the coming civil war, known as the “Dance of the Dragons.”

The series has proven itself to be a worthy successor to Game of Thrones, attracting millions of viewers each week and earning rave reviews for its scale, impressive visual effects and excellent performances from its ensemble of actors led by Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke. The season finale set a viewership record as the biggest night for an HBO series since the original series concluded in 2019.

Although plot details are being kept under wraps, Season 3 is expected to depict the most intense periods of the Targaryen Civil War, as the clans violently clash for the throne. Author George RR Martin has already hinted that he is collaborating on the storylines for a possible fourth season.
