The second season of “House of the Dragon”, the prequel to “Game of Thrones”, will not be impacted by the strike movement that the American screenwriters are about to begin.
All of Hollywood begins to tremble because of the strike movement launched by the Union of American Screenwriters (WGA).
The entertainment industry is therefore preparing to encounter major disruptions, while the filming of films and series, but also of talk shows, could be completely interrupted until negotiations aimed in particular at increasing salaries can be completed. .
But some filming will manage to slip through the cracks, and this is particularly the case for the second season of House of the Dragon. Currently in production on the side of England, the prequel to Games of Thrones will indeed not be impacted by this strike, all the scripts of its eight episodes having been fully written.
According to our colleagues from varietythe production of the program would have pressured its scriptwriters to provide all of their scripts before the end of the weekend, so that their work could not be interrupted by the official start of the strike.
British screenwriters who are members of the Writers Guild of America have also been asked to suspend their work in the same way as their American colleagues.
A doubt persists, however, about the possibility of the scriptwriters of the program to be able to make alterations to a script already written, and it is therefore not totally impossible that the production will be forced to turn the current scripts to the word, without being able to modify every single line of dialogue.
It therefore seems highly likely that the production of House of the Dragon will not be greatly impacted by the situation, but remember that season 2 will not be released before summer 2024 – in the best case.
