HOUSES OF HORROR. What has become of Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, theater of unspeakable scenes?

Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 young men between the ages of 14 and 32. Among these victims, 11 were discovered in the apartment of the Milwaukee cannibal. But what has become of this dwelling, theater of horror? Closer gives you the answer.

He is one of the most infamous serial killers in history. Between 1978 and 1991, the American Jeffrey Dahmer killed, skinned, raped and sometimes devoured 17 young men between the ages of 14 and 32. According to his own confession, the young man identified his prey in gay bars, lured them to his house with the promise of a few tickets and slaughtered them shamelessly in his Milwaukee apartment. All this without ever attracting the attention of the police… But on July 22, 1991, one of these victims, Tracy Edwards, managed to flee from the home of the serial killer, before alerting a car police, who were then able to arrest Jeffrey Dahmer.

After the hit series centered on the serial killer aired on Netflix, many people wondered what had become of the building where these horrific murders took place. It is indeed in theapartment 213 at 924 North 25th Street in Milwaukee that the police discovered 11 bodies. But today the building no longer exists. According to Newsweek, the entire 49-unit complex was dismantled fifteen months after his arrest, at the request of the families of the victims. Not only were there nasty bloodstains in Jeffrey Dahmer’s room, but it was obviously difficult to rent a building where one of the worst serial killers in history had killed raged. At the time, The New York Times even described her as a “factory to kill“.

Abandoned land

In 1992, the owners of the building, Campus Circle Project, offered to help relocate the occupants before demolition. After this, the place was almost transformed into a playground for children. Now it’s about just a big empty lot composed of grass and some trees. A black rotten iron fence surrounds the perimeter, but there are no flowers or garden. All attempts to convert the site into a memorial garden, playground or new housing have failed.
