Microsoft has Build, Apple has WWDC, Google has I/O.
Every year, the tech giants organize their big show dedicated to developers, during which they announce many new products planned for the coming months. The goal is to familiarize them with these innovations (so that they can adapt their apps), but also to unveil several projects aimed at the general public.
Developer conferences are often the richest and involve millions of people (an Android update will impact millions of smartphones for free, while a new product is reserved for those who buy it).
Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m., Google organizes its I/O ’22. No one will be there due to the Covid, but the brand is planning many new features. The event can be followed on YouTube (one of Google’s properties) and will, of course, be analyzed by Numerama journalists.
Where and when to watch Google I/O 2022?
Two videos are offered by Google on YouTube. There is a classic broadcast of the event, live from 7 p.m.. And another for the hearing impaired, in sign language. This isn’t the first time Google has made this distinction.
What announcements are expected?
On the program of new features for I/O 2022, there is of course Android 13, the future update for smartphones and tablets using the Google OS. The list of novelties is so far small, the first beta versions already available are not very impressive.
In addition to many software innovations (Google loves to use the I / O to impress with its voice assistant or its know-how in artificial intelligence), we also expect hardware innovations. A Pixel 6a, the mid-range cousin of the Pixel 6, is expected, as is the Pixel Watch, Google’s first connected watch. Other surprises could be on the program, but we will have to wait for the conference to find out more.
