With its brand new Digital Strategy, the British government intends to put the country at the forefront of the tech scene.
An ambitious program, announced at the launch of London Tech Week, which focuses on the country’s skills, investments and infrastructure in the vast field of tech.
Make Great Britain Great in Tech
To carry out this enormous project, the Digital Strategy plan establishes six pillars considered essential for a ” constant numerical growth “. These pillars are as follows:
- infrastructure;
- Intellectual property ;
- Skills and talents;
- Funding;
- Approach on the national ground;
- Global leadership.
In terms of intellectual property more specifically, the British government intends to carry out a large research and development operation. This would focus on the very promising areas of artificial intelligence, semiconductors and quantum computing.
Who says restructuring plan, obviously says vast recruitment operation based on learning, so that the country catches up with its delay in the field of skills. Thus, the British government has notably financed 2,000 scholarships. The aim is to have a broad base of people ready to make Britain the tech superpower it wants to be.
A commitment to the future
During a London Digital Week panel, Digital Minister Chris Philp said: Over the past five years, Britain has raced ahead of Europe to become a global tech leader. Now we are heading into the future. The Digital Agenda is the roadmap we will follow to strengthen our global position as a science and technology superpower. Our future prosperity and place in the world depend on it. »
In addition to an ambitious learning operation, Britain also intends to capitalize on the so-called “unicorn” companies which have experienced crazy and extremely rapid growth in the field of tech.
As it stands, Britain is facing a difficult economic situation, in particular due to inflation and supply shortages caused in large part by the pandemic. Turning its gaze now to the field of tech is thus a way for the country to raise its head above water, for a more serene future.
