How Bushido became a bitcoiner

Bitcoin has arrived in the mainstream. More and more well-known personalities are holding the pole to the No. 1 cryptocurrency. So does Bushido. We interviewed the rapper.

Bushido is jack-of-all-trades: rapper, producer, holder of the Bambi for integration and, most recently, bitcoin. For his album “Sonny Black 2”, which will be released in autumn, the rapper wants Premium boxes prepare, in which, among other things, Bitcoin are stored. Bushido wants to equip a total of 2,000 of these boxes with 50 euros each in BTC. Those who are among the lucky winners have thus recovered the purchase price of the album in digital gold.

Bushido, a bitcoiner? We wanted to know more and asked the Berliner about the campaign.

When did he first hear about Bitcoin?

It must have been around 2012/13 when I heard about Bitcoin for the first time. To my shame I have to admit that I did not understand. I wasn’t interested either.

The owner of the record label Ersguterjunge should not be alone in this. Back then, Bitcoin was still a radical idea, best known for its use as a darknet currency on platforms like Silk Road. It is hardly surprising that in 2013 hardly anyone recognized the full potential of a solid global monetary system.

Bitcoin was then the synonym for – I’ll say – “weird transactions”,

says Bushido with reference to the use case of the black market currency. But the social acceptance of BTC has changed radically. It can no longer be denied that Bitcoin is in a historic upward trend. This realization has also reached the rap scene.

The best investment ever

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is one of his best investments ever, Bushido reveals to BTC-ECHO.

I’ve been speculating in stocks for a long time. At some point, my opinion about Bitcoin changed. I think Bitcoin has now cracked the psychological hurdle and acceptance is there. We have passed a critical point.

Bushido sees the topic of Altcoins more critically and shows that he is almost “all in” in BTC.

Bitcoin is the biggest issue for me. I’m 99 percent into bitcoin. I invested in ADA relatively early on – it has gone well so far. I also made quite a profit with Binance Coin (BNB). At the moment, however, it is like this: Everything I can afford to pull out of my cash flow goes into Bitcoin. And I’ll be honest: I’m always up for a snap and I’m happy when things go well.

But Bushido is not just about personal enrichment. Bitcoin also has great social implications. He experienced firsthand how exclusive the centralized financial system can be.

“I know what Bitcoin stands for. The monetary system is too centralized; when it comes to financing, banks have opened the door and put me on the street with one go. “

The decentralization of the financial system ultimately benefits those who were previously underprivileged. “No institution should have so much power that it can decide about fates,” adds the rapper, whose real name is Anis Ferchichi.

Despite all convictions, Bushido urges caution: You should only invest as much as you are willing to lose.

“I believe in Bitcoin”

The fact that not only the investment community is now represented in the decentralized Bitcoin marketing team, but also famous personalities from society can only be positive for the cryptocurrency. After all, BTC thrives on word-of-mouth propaganda by its proponents. There is no “CEO of Bitcoin” who could accelerate the spread through clever advertising. A worldwide adoption should already be a foregone conclusion at this point. Well-known advertising faces like Bushido still do a valuable service to popularity. In this sense, the award-winning musicians Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey emulate. A single word adorns his Twitter bio: #Bitcoin.

However, the rapper does not see himself as a Bitcoin preacher. The decision to invest in Bitcoin has to be borne by everyone in the end.

I definitely don’t want to promote that people start gambling. I just want to let people know that I believe in something – and I believe in Bitcoin. By giving Bitcoin to a few thousand people in my Sonny Black 2 Box, I just want to signal that I believe in it and think that you can still make a lot of money with it.

Bushido therefore advises the lucky winners not to cash out the BTC from the Sonny-Black-2 boxes straight away, but to leave it behind for a few years. This buy and hold strategy has proven to be the best, at least in the past.

You don’t have to be a Bushido fan to recognize that celebrities can use their influence in a positive way. In the conversation, the rapper seemed really convinced of Bitcoin and wants – in addition to a legitimate promo for his album – to bring some fans a little closer to digital gold.
