Around the world, it is not uncommon to give your child several first names. But if most parents stop at two or three, some do not have the same limits. On the forum QuoraPatrick, a father, says that he and his wife chose to stand out from other families by giving their newborn 27 “middle names”.

The story took place in the 70s, the man and his girlfriend wanted from the beginning of the pregnancy, give their baby a name “really unique”. At that time, the couple did not live alone but surrounded by what they describe as being “a huge extended family of stoner buddies, psychonauts, amateur yogis and independent enlightenment coaches”. In their group, sharing was the watchword, “this included his girlfriend/boyfriend, hiding place, food and living space, no matter how crowded it was”explains Patrick.

Each a first name

And this sharing had no limit, so much so that when it came to finding a name for their baby, the decision could not be made alone. “We gave him a real name: Rain (which means “rain” in English), then we asked each of our dear friends to provide ONE middle name.”says the father of the family, adding: “That way each of them could choose the name they wanted to use at any time.”

Although he has forgotten a good part of the names he had given to his son, Patrick remembers a few first names, the child was then called: Rain, Storm (“storm”), Thunder (“thunder”), Cloud (“cloud”), Fire (“fire”), Flight (“flight”), Ambrose, Elijah, Food (“food”), Bird ( “bird”), Hawk (“hawk/eagle”), Wind (“wind”), Ocean. Adorable isn’t it?

“I forgot some of them, but I remember the final tally was 27 ‘middle names’, each honoring our new chosen family but very few of them are still even a little present in our lives. today”. he confides.

If in their camp of “hippies”, these first names were not surprising, today, we suppose that the little boy who has become a man must have a lot of trouble when doing administrative procedures asking him to mention all his first names. …
