How do I enable a full calendar in the Chrome OS status bar?

Chrome OS is loved for its simplicity, speed, and minimalist desktop. Having an operating system that always “just” works can be a real pleasure, especially when you’re incredibly busy and on the go. Also, whenever it is possible to modify Chrome OS to make it even more efficient, the game is worth the effort. This is the case with this handy little trick that will allow you to easily access your complete calendar from the Chrome OS status bar!

With this addition to Chrome OS, you can click on the date in your Chrome OS status bar to reveal a full calendar with clickable dates to reveal any entry you’ve listed. For anyone who relies on both Chrome OS and Google Calendar, this tool will soon be one of your must-haves. Are you ready to optimize your calendar experience in Chrome OS? Here’s how.

Enabling Monthly Calendar View

Open Chrome on your Chromebook and type the following in the address bar:

In the resulting screen, type calendar in the search bar and press the Enter key on your keyboard. In the window that appears, click the drop-down menu and select Enabled.

When prompted, click Restart. After your Chromebook restarts, log in again and click the date in the system tray (in the lower right corner of the screen). This will open the calendar preview. Click on a date marked with a blue dot to view all of your events for that date.

If you click on one of these events, Google Calendar will open in a tab or in its own window (depending on whether you chose to open Google Calendar in its own application window). And that’s how to make working with Google Calendar even more efficient on Chrome OS. Obviously, you can’t add or edit entries in your calendar from this feature, but if you constantly need to refer to Google Calendar on your Chromebook, this is a great solution.
