How do I respec in Elden Ring?

Stats play a major role in your character’s progress on Elden Ring. Depending on which ones you choose, your adventure will not be the same. Luckily, if you’re worried you’ve taken a wrong turn, you can always respec your character, but that won’t be easy. Here’s how to do it.

When you take your first steps on Elden Ring, you will have to choose a class among the 10 which will be proposed to you. The different classes of the game allow access to different equipment, weapons, objects, as well as a distribution of defined statistics, but do not panic, this will only have a minimal influence on your course.

Indeed, you can always change your tune along the way, starting with your stat distribution. As a reminder, 8 stats are available on Elden Ring, each providing different benefits.

How to respec your character in Elden Ring?

The first step to reset your character’s stats in Elden Ring is to defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. We’re not going to lie to each other, it won’t be a cakewalk, it’s one of the main bosses in the game, and to climb up to it you’ll have to fight many enemies.

If you feel like cutting to face it, go to the academy of Liurnia. You will find it at the very top of the tower, however you will need a Shardstone Key to enter the academy.

After defeating her, you will be teleported to the academy library, facing Rennala. However, instead of taking her revenge, she will offer you the chance to respec your character in exchange for a Larval Tear.

You can only respec your character after defeating Rennala.

As you might expect, Larval Tears aren’t around every corner. You will need to be 50+ to get one. Suffice to say that respecializing is not something to do on a whim, it is better to be sure of your shot.

Where to find Larval Tears?

Larval Tears are clearly not common. However, there are places where you are pretty sure to find one. The first spot is in the Albinauric Village, you can find it without too much difficulty by going through the poisoned swamp.

The second spot is at Lake Liurnia, near a shrine in the middle of the water. You’ll find a Giant Crawfish there, the one that will move while the others rest, which drops a Larval Tear when defeated.

You can also get your hands on the wallet to get one. To do this, you will have to go to La Siofra, you can access it through a well located in the Siofr River, and contact the Nomad Merchant who will provide you with one in exchange for 3000 runes

If luck is on your side, you can find one during your progression in different parts of the game, and even loot one from certain enemies, but it can take some time.
