It doesn’t have the best battery life, nor is it the cheapest. On the other hand, it is it which offers the best price/autonomy ratio, quite far ahead of its competitors. The MG 4 is, therefore, very well positioned.

MG Motor is part of the DNA of the British automotive industry. However, the manufacturer was bought by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation in 2006. It offers several models (non-exhaustive list): a station wagon, the MG 5, SUVs (obviously!), the MG Marvel R and the MG ZS EV and a city car, the MG 4. Armed with a rather aggressive pricing strategy, the manufacturer is well known for offering vehicles at very attractive prices. This has never been more true than today.

An unbeatable price for the MG 4

Despite the end of the ecological bonus, the MG4 still manages to remain attractive. At the start of the year, the manufacturer offered some pretty incredible discounts on a selection of models to compensate, including the MG 4. At the start of January, these amounted to 4,000 euros, then increasing to 7,000 euros at half of the month. Called, not without humor, “MG Electric Prime”, this now allows the brand to offer the MG 4 (in Comfort version, with a 64 kWh battery) at a rather unbeatable price: 26,990 euros.

A rather intelligent response to the disappearance of the ecological bonus and the fairly fierce competition in the EV market. Last June, MG even paid off Emmanuel Macron in person by offering its MG 4 at 99 euros per month, cheaper than the government’s social leasing offer. The advertisement was accompanied by a slogan, worthy of a real snub: “ Mr President, we keep your promises “.

Very decent autonomy

Today, with its 450 km of autonomy, the MG 4 is therefore the car with the best autonomy/price ratio on the market. Its ratio is 59.98 (26,990/450), which places it ahead of the Cupra Born (with its ratio of 65.4) which was the benchmark in this area. It is far ahead of other cars in the same segment, such as the Renault Mégane (ratio of 74.47).

MG’s offer is valid until February 23, 2024, when MG will choose whether or not to extend its discount. While most brands simply respond to market expectations, MG does a little better, it manages to anticipate them. Enough to give his rivals a cold sweat!
