Tesla’s Autopilot can be seen reacting impressively in video of a highway crash.

The firm headed by Elon Musk is the world number 1 in electric vehicles. A place that it owes in particular to its autonomous driving solution, the Autopilot, capable of directing the vehicle on its own in a certain number of situations. Including that of a highway accident, as this video shows today.

Autopilot in action

Tesla has received a lot of bad publicity about its autonomous driving in recent months. The firm thus had to carry out a rapid change on some 360,000 vehicles following an investigation by the American regulator, then face a complaint from its shareholders, who believe that they have been victims of misleading advertising on this technology.

Yet Autopilot is used by many satisfied customers around the world. And some were even able to see the effectiveness of the solution in critical situations. This is the case of a driver who has just posted a video which shows his Tesla vehicle avoiding a wheel rushing towards him following an accident.

A little steering wheel to the right

Indeed, the Tesla are equipped with a certain number of cameras which make it possible to record the environment around the vehicle in the event of an accident. And in this video, we can see a pretty violent one happening right in front of the driver, with a vehicle rolling over several times, and a completely freewheeling crashing into the Tesla, whose Autopilot was activated at the time, of after the words of its user.

And as can be seen above, the car very calmly prevented the collision, spotting the moving object within seconds, and turning slightly to the right to let it pass, and thus avoid contact. An impressive anecdote but which ends well, the driver of the black Kia sent into the scene having escaped without damage.
