Meta has just announced the deployment of a new feature within its social network. Indeed, users will soon have the opportunity to chat via voice via a new tool.

And Facebook probably didn’t go far to find inspiration…

A “new” way of discussing

If in its beginnings in 2015 Discord aimed to bring together the different communities of players, the software has evolved over the years. Thus, users can chat with each other by joining community servers that can be dedicated to one or more specific themes. A bias that has paid off, because messaging had more than 250 million users in 2019.

Since the success is there, Meta will obviously be inspired by adding a new feature to Facebook. Indeed, the American firm will extend the availability of Community Chats in the near future. Nothing very innovative in the program since this element will allow Internet users to discuss via audio and video channels around a common theme with other people who do not necessarily belong to their circle of friends.

Safety measures put in place

But social network requires, overflows can quickly happen on a theme deemed sensitive, especially between people who do not know each other. This is why, like what is done on Discord, the chat room administrator will have access to several moderation tools.

For example, we note the possibility of creating a list of words or terms that will be automatically flagged when they are used. The administrator will also have the opportunity to suspend, mute or even block fanatics who do not respect the rules. Finally, private discussions between administrators can also be hosted.

In short, channeling heated discussions will not be an easy task. Anyway, the Community Chats via Facebook and Messenger will land in the coming weeks.

However, faced with the growing offer of online tools to communicate with loved ones, it can sometimes be difficult to get a good idea of the service that best suits us.
