After offering the possibility of giving more context to your requests thanks to its multiple search option, Google is now going further by allowing you to use your voice to refine your requests.
Google Lens is the image recognition tool from the Mountain View firm. After adding the ability to give context to your searches in writing, the firm seems ready to move to the next level by allowing you to use your voice.
Your voice will be your best tool
Google Lens lets you do a lot of things, from translating texts into foreign languages to identifying plants. However, sometimes these searches need to be more specific to provide context to your approach. In 2022, Google provided a solution by allowing you to add additional queries to your search. However, the process only took place after the initial search and could sometimes be wrong. We learn via Android Police that this should soon change.
It was on X (formerly Twitter) that Mishaal Rahman posted the results of this new search method.
Instead of clicking on an image and then adding context, you can simply hold the search button, record a video with Lens, and add the context to the audio. Google Lens will then take it into account.
A large deployment to come
This feature had been spotted as early as the end of 2023 and finally seems ready to roll out. According to Android Policethe feature is available on all Android phones. We encourage you to check that you have the latest version of Google Lens on your phone if it does not appear.
Google Lens continues its path in identification. Recently, the Mountain View firm integrated Lens into its search process to offer you YouTube videos. Adding voice notes in context then becomes even more relevant to find the solution that suits you best.
