Google Meet declares war on noisy offices

Google Meet can already suppress background noise such as typing, background noise or chatter, to make video calls more productive and allow everyone to stay focused on the conversation. Today, Google is quite proud to announce a little novelty.

Indeed, a new indicator on the screen will allow the user to know immediately if his environment is too noisy. If the indicator is not displayed on the screen, good news, your work environment is perfectly silent. In the opposite case, it will be able in particular to allow the user to know that a significant noise is filtered during the conversation, with the mention ” Ongoing noise reduction “. This visual signal is triggered at most once per meeting.

The indicator can also indicate that noise is filtered continuously during the conversation, and that other participants only hear the voice of the user. The noise level is simply reflected by the size of the ring on the screen.

This update is rolling out to Google Meet, and should reach users by the end of August. Note that only certain Google Workspace Business and Essentials versions are affected.
