ChatGPT dazzled the planet, okay. But in this technology that now everyone wants to reproduce, there is first a language model, GPT-3. The chatbot was built on it, but it can also have other uses.

This is shown by Shortwave, the Gmail client. The company behind this application indeed announces the establishment of “intelligent summaries” of the long e-mail loops that we know only too well.

This production will be enabled by the integration of GPT-3 technology. This will allow you to quickly remember the substance of a long exchange, but also to easily integrate a loop. This option will also be available in several languages.

A beta version already in place

For the moment, this feature is only available in its beta version. But if you are a Shortwave user, or if you are interested in this possibility, it is currently available for free on the Gmail client.

And that’s just the beginning for the app. It aims to reap as many benefits as possible from the development of artificial intelligence. Thus, Shortwave should gradually integrate new language models into its functions, which will enable it to improve its services.

This option is all the more interesting since it is not Google that would directly implement help from GPT-3. This language model is indeed used by its rival OpenAI (and Microsoft behind) while the Mountain View firm wants to launch its own competitor to ChatGPT: Bard.
