It was this Friday, November 4 that the funeral of Justine Vayrac took place in the village where she lived, Tauriac, located in the Lot in Occitania, and which has just over 400 inhabitants. Since the announcement of the death of the young woman of 20 years, the bereaved town is truly in shock. Justine Vayrac’s family said they wanted the ceremony to take place in the strictest privacy and away from the cameras. This is how the first deputy mayor of Tauriac, Gérard Flament, told the newspaper The mountain that a “twenty gendarmes were mobilized to close the access to the town from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.“. Nearly 300 people had nevertheless made the trip to attend the ceremony which was held in the Tauriac church. According to The Midi Dispatch, a white march will also take place this Sunday, November 6 in Saint-Céré, at 2 p.m., on the initiative of Justine’s friends. Gérard Flament then explained that the atmosphere in Tauriac has been very heavy since the tragedy: “The more it goes, the more the village closes. It’s really time for the pressure to drop“. And to add: “I think people are going to need to talk. For us, everything stopped, the associations canceled everything they had planned. It’s really a tough test for everyone.“.

Justine Vayrac was found buried in a forest of Beynat in Corrèze, on October 27, the day after the confession of her alleged murderer, Lucas L.. The young woman had been killed on the night of October 22 to 23, while she spent the evening in a nightclub with friends in Brive-la-Gaillarde. Very quickly, Lucas L., a 21-year-old farmer, was arrested and placed in police custody. According to the first results of the autopsy, Justine received numerous blows and was strangled. The full autopsy report should also indicate whether the young woman was raped. The suspect told investigators he had consensual sex with Justine before her death. For now, Lucas L. is imprisoned and indicted for rape, kidnapping and murder. He faces life imprisonment.
