On the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, How I Met Your Father sitcom creator Isaac Aptaker made a big promise to How I Met Your Mother fans.
The countdown is drawing to a close. On January 18, the VOD platform Hulu will kick off How I Met Your Father new sitcom from Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Like How I Met Your Mother, broadcast from 2005 to 2014 on the American channel CBS, this new series will follow the daily life of a small group of New York friends. Sophie (Hilary Duff), Jesse (Chris Lowell) will replace Ted (Josh Radnor) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) in the hearts of fans, but beware, the universe of How I Met Your Mother will not be left behind!
On the occasion of the winter press tour of the Television Critics Association, the creator of How I Met Your Father, Isaac Aptaker, promised fans that the series would be set in the same universe as HIMYM. “People keep saying it’s a ‘reboot’, but it’s not. It’s a sequel. It’s set in the same world as the previous series, but it’s a standalone series.” In other words, Sophie, Jesse and the others will evolve in the same universe as Ted and his best friends. Moreover, the creator already promises several nods to old characters in his new series. “There will be lots of little things that will please those who loved the original series.” he promises.
Carter Bays and Craig Thomas keep watch
For those who may still need convincing, the executive producer clarifies that Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the creators of How I Met Your Mother, and Pamela Fryman, the director, are all involved in the spin-off project. Thus, there is little chance that How I Met Your Father strays too far from the original series. This should reassure some!
