This famous show, considered by many to be the worthy successor to Friends, and which even became Quentin Tarantino’s favorite series (!), was nevertheless entitled to a bittersweet conclusion which was not to everyone’s taste. fans, far from it!

Indeed, after spending the entire series telling his two children how he met their mother, Ted Mosby finally got to the point in the last two episodes of season 9. After the marriage of Robin and Barney, the young man was preparing to leave New York to try to find true love elsewhere.

Just before leaving, on the station platform, he finally decided to go talk to the bassist of the group who played at the wedding: a young woman named Tracy, waiting in the rain, sheltered under the famous yellow umbrella. Ted had finally met the great love of his life.

Unfortunately, we learned that after marrying Ted and having two children with him, Tracy had become seriously ill and died. Having become a single father, convinced by his children to go find Robin – about whom he had never stopped talking to them during his story and who had also ended up divorcing Barney – Ted finally returned to his first New York idyll, equipped of the good old blue hunting horn from the first episode.

As we said earlier, this sad and melancholy ending had largely divided fans. Many were indeed hoping for a much more joyful and optimistic outcome for the series they had followed for almost a decade. Fortunately for the latter, in September 2014, a much more enjoyable and much more classic alternative ending was revealed.

As you can see by watching it (above), this conclusion happens exactly as you might imagine: Ted looks back on all the significant events that punctuated his search for true love, and finally arrives at his meeting with Tracy, at the station, in the rain and the yellow umbrella.

“See? It was easy. And that’s how, kids, I met your mother.”Ted then concludes without the slightest allusion to any illness or disappearance.

It’s the end of the episode, the season, and the series. With this other epilogue, we can therefore conclude that Ted and Tracy lived happily and spent their entire lives together.
