/ Mom / Child / Resumption of compulsory school from June 22: how will school start?
Schools and colleges will reopen their doors from June 22 in France, with a "compulsory" presence of students and a simplified health protocol.
This Sunday, June 14, President Emmanuel Macron spoke from the Élysée to clarify several key points of the deconfinement, including the reopening of cafes and restaurants but also the return to school of students, from Monday, June 22. Thus, the children of the nursery up to the 3rd class will have to take up on a "compulsory" basis. " From tomorrow in Hexagon as in Overseas, nurseries, schools, colleges will prepare to welcome from June 22 all students in a compulsory manner and according to the rules of normal presence ", did he declare.
Indeed, since the beginning of deconfinement, the very strict health protocol only allowed to welcome a maximum of 15 students per class in primary schools. Also, schoolchildren were not able to play together, neither in class nor during recess because they had to maintain a safety distance of at least one meter. On Wednesday April 10, the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer estimated at " more than 50% " the percentage of students who were able to return to school but sometimes only one day a week. In secondary, these are "30% of middle school students" which have resumed, most often partially.
Back to school still unclear
Even if this recovery was eagerly awaited by parents and teachers, this return to school is still very vague. As Francette Popineau indicates, spokesperson for Snuipp-FSU, the main teaching union, who wonders about the conditions for the start of the new school year.
" We can't wait to get back to normal, we find it was time to maintain the compulsory aspect of school. But we also wonder about which protocols will we be able to implement. Because at the same time, the president says that the barrier gestures must be preserved, in particular the distancing. How are we going to do in the classes, in the yard? For the moment, we are between two waters. We would not want this reunion to be marred by a second epidemic wave. We have to be careful about how we organize things. We take a lot of risks for only 15 days "Says the spokesperson.
The health protocol will be lightened, with the maintenance of social distancing measures and a higher quota of children in class. The terms of the new protocol will be specified at the start of the week following a meeting with union organizations on Monday, June 15.
