How often should I wash my towels?

Wash towels? Most people only do it irregularly. After all, you only use them when you are already clean, i.e. freshly washed. However, the fact that they hardly get dirty is a myth.

On the contrary: towels can develop into real spinners. The damp environment in the bathroom, which is mostly heated by steam, is a paradise for bacteria and fungi. They are celebrating a tiny party – on the towel you use to dry your face in the morning. Not a nice idea, is it?

Why you should change towels regularly

The reason for this is quite natural: when drying, small particles of skin get into the towel. They become the basis of life for mushrooms & co., Which multiply cheerfully in the terry cloth. In addition, everyone has bacteria in and on their bodies that are even healthy and important – if they are balanced and do not accumulate uncontrollably. So there is a mix of germs and dander in the towel that we do not notice. That's why you rarely see towels that are dirty.

By the way, you should never use the same towel for your hands and face. Most of the germs are on the hands – they have no place on the face.

You should wash towels that often

As a rule of thumb, towels should not be used more than three times. If you take a shower every day, you should replace your towel every three days. It is recommended not to share towels with other household members and to hang them up straight after showering as soon as possible so that they can dry well.

Don't worry: to kill the germs, it is enough to wash the towels at 60 degrees. Then they should also be dried well.
