How quickly can you access the Elden Ring DLC?

A few days before the launch of the DLCElden Ring, speedrunners set themselves a challenge: beat the two bosses required to access it as quickly as possible. The fastest do it in less than 28 minutes.

FromSoftware has imposed conditions to access the DLC ofElden Ring : beat two bosses, which are optional in the main adventure. The consequence of this prerequisite is quite terrible for a majority of players, who will not be able to discover Shadow of the Erdtree and get lost in its labyrinths. Meanwhile, speedrunners take on a new challenge: complete these obligations as quickly as possible.

As noted by Games Radar in an article published on June 19, content creators NuclearPastaTom, SpicyWe1ner, BlueberryBrioche, Mitchriz and Zoodle have come up with a bounty for what they call the “Unlock% Speedrun Bounty DLC”. There is some money to be made for the best, with $3,500 to be shared (40% of the prize pool for the first). The final ranking will be decided on June 21 at midnight, the time at which Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be available.

Speedrunners take less than 30 minutes to reach the DLC

The objective is therefore to defeat Radahn and Mohg, as required from FromSoftware. Participants must also defeat Magnus (an essential task to reach Mohg quickly). The timer is stopped when they activate the Site of Grace located in front of Miquella’s cocoon, within the palace where Mohg sits (cocoon that must be touched to access the Kingdom of Shadows, the region of the expansion).

The collective of speedrunners imposes some rules for its challenge :

  • Imposed class (Indigent, i.e. the most deprived character);
  • Only normal weapons are allowed;
  • Prohibition to pass dialogues, door openings or loadings on the Grace Sites;
  • No loophole can be exploited (except the one that allows you to reach Radahn quickly).

At the time of writing, three people have managed to go under 28 minutes: spicee (27:39), Forsa (27:54) and mitchriz (27:55). There are actually four of them under the half-hour mark, which underlines the difficulty of the challenge. Note that Forsa is a French speedrunner who holds the world record in the Any% Glitchless category (54 minutes and 40 seconds). A few months ago, he did not hide his modesty from Numerama: “ Speedrunning is not a competition between players, it is the players, together, who compete against the game “. His run which allowed him to appear in second place for the bonus can be admired on his Twitch channel.

Obviously, ordinary mortals cannot reach the DLC ofElden Ring in such a short time. Our guide will help you complete the requirements quickly, but by no means within half an hour. These impressive records can nevertheless serve as sources of motivation for those who have not yet taken the trouble to rub shoulders with Radahn and Mohg. You have less than 24 hours left before the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree.
