Rescued through an online game. An 80-year-old American woman was rescued while being held hostage in her home last week. Her family gave the alert when she did not read the messages she was supposed to receive. She also did not give her results of the day in the game “Wordle”, popular for weeks on the Internet, which consists of discovering hidden words, in six tries. “USA Today” reports that Denyse Holt woke up at her home in Lincolnwood, Illinois and found herself face to face with a naked man holding scissors.

He allegedly threatened to hurt her if she screamed and then lay in bed with her. He would then have locked her in a bathroom installed in the basement of his house, for several hours, without bringing her any food or medicine. The old lady’s daughter was worried that she no longer heard from her. “I didn’t send Wordle to my eldest daughter in the morning. And it was disconcerting for her,” Denyse Holt told CBS2. The girl living on the west coast of the United States informed the police, asking to go check if her mother was well. On the spot, the agents were quickly able to free her after an intervention of the SWAT. The suspect was arrested last Monday.

The Lincolnwood Police Department confirmed to ‘USA Today’ that the suspect, identified as James H. Davis III, allegedly threw away his clothes early on Sunday during a ‘psychotic breakdown’ before breaking into the wife’s house. He retrieved the phones from the house and blocked the door to the woman’s bathroom with a chair. He was charged with breaking and entering with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping with a weapon and two aggravated assaults on a peace officer.
