Available for a few days on PS5 and PC, video games Helldiverse is the heyday of players… but also of a 1997 film. It is indeed a certain Starship Troopers which is a reference for the game signed Arrowhead Studios.
The game Helldiverse 2 has been accumulating records since its launch on February 8. Sony’s game (available on PS5 and PC) recently surpassed the milestone of 409,000 concurrent players. Enough to shake the servers set up by the studio, but also to exceed the score of GTA V (and make us forget the GTA VI hype a little)… while getting closer to that of Palworld.
Helldiverse resurrect Starship Troopers (and spills GTA V)
An unexpected success to say the least, which also has repercussions on the cinema industry. Because if there is indeed a source of inspiration for this Helldiverse 2it is undoubtedly the film Starship Troopersfrom 1997, which also benefited from the success of the game.
It was the CEO of Arrowhead Studios, Johan Pilestedt, who indicated on his X.com account (formerly Twitter) the new popularity of Starship Troopers on Television Stats. If Paul Verhoeven’s film was beyond 100th place in mid-February, it rose to 17th place two days later. The film notably passed Migration, Gran Turismo, Interstellar or barbie.
In Starship Troopers, the countries of Earth grouped together within the Federation, which set out to conquer neighboring planets. One day, the latter finds itself threatened by an extra-terrestrial entity, the warlike civilization of the Arachnids. A synopsis very close to that of Helldiverse 2 and its Super-Earth populated by elite soldiers.
And if you weren’t one of the 965,000 spectators who saw Starship Troopers at the cinema 27 years ago, it is perhaps high time to (re)discover the film worn (among others) by Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer and Denise Richards.

In the absence of a “real” Slim console (like the PSOne or the PS2 Slim in their time), Sony’s new PS5 nevertheless offers a reduced size and weight, with power that remains unchanged. It also includes some welcome optimizations, such as two USB-C ports on the front, a 1 TB SSD or even a (finally!) repositioned Eject button.
We can once again criticize it for packaging unworthy of the €549 required for its purchase, but also for a questionable choice of design, with this quartet of matte and glossy panels, without forgetting a horizontal support, very stable certainly, but which also looks very cheap.
Ultimately, the PS5 Slim will replace the standard PS5 in stores. At the end of 2023, players are free to opt for this new model sold at a high price, or on the contrary to take advantage of the numerous promotions concerning the classic model, to finally treat themselves to the PS5 at a suitable price (400/ 450 €), knowing that the two versions offer a completely similar gaming experience and comfort.
