Decidedly, the winds are favorable to Filigran, this French start-up which has just raised 5 million euros from investors. Among the latter, the family office of the owners of Galeries Lafayette, the investment fund of Xavier Niel or one of the co-founders of Alsid, a nugget of French cybersecurity bought by the American Tenable.
For the past few weeks, the start-up specializing in solutions dedicated to intelligence on cyber threats has had a new prestigious user. It is, announces the French company, the cyber division of the FBI, the American federal investigation office. “They had tested several other solutions for organizing knowledge in the form of graphs, but these required long months of configuration and integration”, explains to Zdnet.fr Samuel Hassine, the co-founder of Filigran alongside Julian Richard.
Easy to put in place
The FBI’s cyber experts were finally seduced by OpenCTI, the French company’s open source software. A tool that is certainly not very customizable but easy to set up in an organization, according to the company, and compatible with the requirements of this judicial investigation and intelligence service, with functionalities around the segregation of information and the need for know about it.
The software for managing and sharing knowledge on cyber threats had been developed within Anssi from September 2018. “Before, it was mainly Excel files or wikis”, points out Samuel Hassine.
3200 user organizations
Concretely, it is a data representation tool. The visualization obtained integrates various information, such as known vulnerabilities, IP addresses, domain names, major attack campaigns, victims, countries or malicious actors. The software is now used in around 3,200 organizations around the world, including Anssi and Enisa.
The fundraising that has just been completed should allow the French start-up to hire from 20 to 50 employees. The company hopes with these reinforcements to expand its offer through the development of two new software around crisis management and attack simulation.
