How to bathe your child safely?

Among the domestic accidents that occur each year is drowning in the bathtub, such as when a parent bathes his child. In the program “Bienfait pour vous”, a general practitioner gives the rules to be followed by parents or future parents to avoid any accident.

The bathroom is a place in the house or apartment where the risk of a domestic accident is high. This can especially happen when a parent gives a bath to their young child. To avoid drowning in the bathtub, general practitioner Franck Mignot gives some rules to follow on the show Well done for you, with Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez. “You have to be very, very careful because a child, it moves, it fidgets, it’s completely unpredictable”, he says first on Europe 1.

Always have an eye on your child

First, “you always have to keep an eye” on your child, explains the doctor, who specifies: “We don’t turn around, we have our hands on the child all the time.” Franck Mignot adds that before giving the bath, “you have to plan the things you need beforehand because there is nothing worse than putting your child in the bath and saying to yourself that you have forgotten Something.”

Parents should therefore not leave the bathroom when bathing their child. On a daily basis, the general practitioner also applies this rule: “In the office, when I have a little one on the table, I always have it in my hand. You must never take your eyes off it”, supports Franck Mignot in Well done for you.
