From emails to telephone calls, we are increasingly drowned out by unwanted canvassing. Did you know that it is possible to block phone numbers? Here’s how, step by step.
Block a number on Android
If you have an Android phone, the procedure can be done in different ways. If the number you want to block is saved, select it in your contacts, then go to the options (symbolized by “Plus” or three vertical dots). Then select “Add to auto-reject list”. If, on the other hand, the number is not in your contacts, go to the call log. In the communications history, find the unwanted number then, in “More”, choose the “Block” option.
Block a number on iPhone
For iPhone owners, you need to do the following: open the “Calls” tab in the “Phone” application. Select the contact or number you want to block by tapping the “i” icon and choose the “Block this caller” option. If the number is in your contacts, there is another solution. Go to “Settings”, then “Phone” and “Blocked numbers”. Choose “Add…”. The list of your contacts appears and all you have to do is determine which one you want to block.
Block a number on Windows Phone
Finally, Windows Phone owners must open the “Phone” application. Press the unwanted number for a few seconds. A menu opens with the option “Block number…”. Choose it, then confirm with “OK”. Depending on the brand of your phone, the process may be different. But blocking options are usually found in the “Phone” app preferences.
And on my landline?
The process is more delicate. You must contact your operator to enable call screening or anonymous call rejection. For example, Free allows you to block numbers by dialing *351* then the blacklisted number then #, but this code differs depending on the operator.
