Low-income households heating with oil and not having been able to benefit from the shield put in place for other sources of energy will assistance between 100 and 200 eurospaid automatically or that they can request an open counter specially online, according to a decree published on Sunday at official newspaper which comes into effect on Monday.
This device is part of the envelope of 230 million euros voted by Parliament this summer and can be used for the payment of any type of energy bill, if ever the households concerned have filled up their tank recently.
1.6million households concerned
This fuel check, valid for one year, amounts to 200 euros for winning households less than 10800 euros per year per consumption unit (that is to say when the income of an adult in the household, once deducted in particular the burden represented by minors, does not exceed 10,800 euros per year, according to the INSEE calculation). It will be 100 euros for those who win between 10,800 and 20,000 euros per year per consumption unit, according to the decree published in the Official Journal.
At the beginning of October, the Minister for the Economy recalled that this fuel oil aid will come in addition to the usual energy check, sent in the spring to around 6 million households, and the exceptional end-of-year energy check which will be sent to 40% of households (12 million households), to cope with the 15% rise in gas and electricity prices expected in 2023. According to the government, 1.6million households will be able to benefit from this fuel check.

How will eligible households receive it? Those who have already used an energy check to pay a fuel bill in the past will receive it automatically, it will be sent by the end of November. The other eligible households will have to make their request on the dedicated online counter chequeenergie.fr: it will be enough to send a fuel bill to receive the aid the following month, reminded AFP the Minister of Energy Transition. On the chequeenergie.fr website, a simulator will show who is eligible.
