Whatever the season, fresh or dried flowers invade our interior to bring color and a touch of romance. For a trendy and retro touch, you use a demijohn as a vase that you place on a pedestal table, a windowsill or even on the ground. After use, does your demijohn come out all soiled with flower residue (just like your vase or the soliflore)? And you can’t reach the bottom because of its neck? Don’t panic, there is a technique to clean each edge, without too much effort.
How to clean a glass bottle?
Have you kept a bottle brush that you once used to clean your children’s bottles? You can now use it to reach the bottom of your gourds, bottles and other deep and thin containers. Without a bottle brush you can also use a little sand, or baking soda with vinegar. But what object should you use to scrub the inside of the bottle? For the sand, you will need to put it in a very dry container so that it does not stick, then shake vigorously so that it scrubs the glass edges. For the bicarbonate and vinegar, mix the ingredients inside and let it foam, if necessary, move the container to distribute the mixture throughout.

To make sure you reach every part of your glass container, even the curved ones, you need to find a magnet! As shown in this video spotted on the Instagram account @world.of.eng, you will therefore need to obtain a magnet, a recovery sock, and a stainless steel sponge (or balled up steel wool). Place the stainless steel sponge inside the demijohn, pour a little liquid black soap. Then thread the magnet inside the sock and use it to grip the steel wool through the glass wall. Then rub all along the vase or bottle. The sock is used here to protect the glass, so that the magnet does not scratch it. Once cleaning is finished, bring the stainless steel ball up towards the neck, or use a small spoon to collect it from the vase.
