How to connect and disconnect your Apple Watch?

Over time, pairing your Apple Watch with your iPhone has become easier and easier. Apple has made all of its devices recognize each other quickly to provide customers with a smooth user experience. Unpairing an Apple Watch from an iPhone, however, can be more difficult. So we are going to tell you how to pair and unpair the two devices in the right way.

iOS update

Before trying to pair your Apple Watch, make sure your iPhone’s iOS version is up to date by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Next, make sure that the Bluetooth function is activated and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. Turn on your Apple Watch, by pressing and holding the side button on your device. A screen will appear stating that the Apple Watch is in pairing mode and asking you to bring it near the iPhone you want to pair it with.

Hold iPhone in close proximity to your Apple Watch until a message appears on your iPhone. A message appears on your iPhone when the smartphone recognizes the nearby Apple Watch. Just press Continue. The option to set up for someone else, such as a family member, is also available.

An animation will appear on your Apple Watch which you will need to scan with your iPhone to complete the pairing process. If you can’t use the camera for some reason, just tap configure manually and follow the instructions. Once the Apple Watch and iPhone are paired, this screen will appear. Then you’ll be prompted to finish setting it up, which will let you customize your preferences, install new apps, and start using your Apple Watch.

How to Disconnect Apple Watch

Now let’s see how to disconnect your Apple Watch. If you want to upgrade to a new Apple Watch and reset your current watch before selling it or giving it to someone else, you’ll need to disconnect it from your iPhone first. If you don’t disconnect your watch from your phone and just do a factory reset on the watch itself, you’ll trigger Activation Lock because your Apple ID and phone will still be associated with the watch … a real headache in perspective.

To completely disconnect your Apple Watch from your iPhone and Apple ID, you will need to do this through your iPhone. Place iPhone and Apple Watch close together. Hold the Apple Watch close to the iPhone. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Go to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Touch All watches at the top left of your screen.

You will get an overview of all Apple Watches associated with your Apple ID. Push the button I next to the watch to be unpaired. Then follow the instructions. At this point, you will need to enter your Apple ID password as a security measure to unpair your Apple Watch from it. A backup of your Apple Watch data and settings will be created, which will be useful if you want to reset your Apple Watch without losing your data or if you are upgrading to a new Apple Watch.
