Deleting the Twitter account requires deactivating it first.
Do you think you’ve had your day on Twitter and consider that the social network has nothing more to offer you? Or did the site cause you difficulties? In either case, then maybe it is necessary to delete your Twitter account. The method for erasing it is simple, but some formulations may be counter-intuitive.
Delete your Twitter account
- Go to the Twitter site with your web browser;
- Connect to the social network, if it is not already done;
- Click on “More” in the sidebar on the left;
- Choose “Settings and privacy” from the drop-down menu;
- Go to “Your account” and “Deactivate account” in the side column on the right;
- Choose the reactivation period (12 or 30 days), mandatory for security reasons;
- Validate with the “Disable” button;
- Enter your password to confirm and ensure that it is you who is in charge.
Prior deactivation, as a safety net
Asking for an account “deactivation” may seem to lead to something other than “deleting” it. Yet this is how it should be done, develops Twitter in its support pages. Deactivation is in fact a first step, an antechamber before complete erasure. This is an obligatory stage which also serves as a safety net.
Twitter indeed offers a period of 12 or 30 days so that the user still has the opportunity to change his mind. It is also a way of avoiding situations where a third party accesses an account that is not theirs and tries to delete it — one can think of an action which made it possible to recover the password of the profile, for example with phishing.
Deactivation leads to the disappearance of the account, display name, account name (@name), public profile on the social network website, but also on mobile applications for iOS and Android. But at that time, your account can still be recovered. Once the 12 or 30 days have passed, it is deleted for good from Twitter’s systems.
Delete his tweets, RTs, messages and likes
If you’re looking to delete your old interactions on Twitter, you shouldn’t aim to destroy the account — even if the result would be the same. In case you just want to wipe the slate clean while keeping your profile, we suggest you try this method to delete all your old tweets, RTs, messages and likes in bulk.
Delete a Twitter Follower
If you want to remove an Internet user from the list of people who follow you, this is also another method that you must use. This feature has the effect of unsubscribing certain Internet users, without warning them. That said, your profile will still be accessible, if it is public. It will suffice to visit it. As a parry, you can otherwise block it or set the profile to private.
