During the summer, Microsoft could launch a “new” Xbox Series X. This new White model would have no optical drive, for 100% digital pleasure.

It’s a rumor that has persisted for a few weeks now, and which is gaining even more momentum today, the launch of an Xbox Series X without the slightest disc reader. The magazine Exputer received several photos of this “ new Xbox », which could act as mid-range in the Xbox family this summer.

Your Xbox Series X, with or without a disc drive?

In November 2020, Microsoft launched its new Xbox Series range, embodied by a powerful Xbox Series Enough to allow Microsoft to offer an Xbox for only €299, and too bad for lovers of “ video game in physical format “.

A “100% digital” side which should accelerate this summer, with the launch of a new Xbox Series as a bonus some optimizations, but also (and above all) the absence of any disk reader.

Not really a first for Microsoft

For Microsoft, it would then be a question of offering three Xboxes in the catalog, with the Xbox Series S at $299, this new Xbox Series X at (approximately) $399 and finally the Xbox Series X at $499. On the side of The Vergewe announce that we were able to consult additional documents, which would indicate that the images published by Exputer are authentic.

For the record, let’s remember that if Microsoft has been offering its Xbox Series S without an optical drive since 2020, the American giant had already tried the experiment the year before.

Indeed, at the end of 2019, Microsoft launched the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, a classic Xbox One S, but from which we had taken care to remove the optical drive. The console then focused 100% on digital gaming and Xbox Game Pass, but already had an identical design to its big sister, minus the disc reader.

Currently, however, Microsoft has not confirmed the existence of this new “Xbox Series X All-Digital Edition”. So be patient.

Microsoft Xbox Series

Microsoft has created an impressive console, equally at home on thousands of titles from previous generations, as well as on the demanding AAAs to come. The best part is that you will enjoy this experience in absolute silence, to concentrate on the main thing: the games. We’ll have to wait a little longer before the Xbox Series
