Next December 2 and 3 will take place the weekend dedicated to the Telethon. As every year, it is important to remember the terms and conditions for making donations.
A year-round commitment. Imported from the United States, the Telethon was organized for the first time in France on December 4 and 5, 1987 on Antenne 2. On December 3 and 2, on France 2, the charity event will celebrate its 35th anniversary. . Each year, this television marathon of about thirty hours brings together the main concerned as well as celebrities. It aims to highlight “the struggle of parents and patients with rare and neuromuscular diseases, once considered incurable”. Organized by the French Association against myopathies (AFM), the Telethon is opportunity to raise awarenessbut also ofcall for donations to help fund medical research and help families.
During the weekend of the Telethon, a special number is open to make donations over the phone, it is 36 37. You can also make a donation by SMS by sending “DON” to 92 007. The fixed amount of €10 will be deducted directly from the mobile operator’s bill. In 2021, €85,933,166 had been collected in this way. In addition to donations, AFM-Téléthon encourages those who wish to join the association to support its actions for one year. It is also possible to become a volunteer during the Telethon and be part of the 215,000 volunteers who, each year, “sell pancakes, organize a village meal, a raffle or carry out a challenge for the benefit of the Telethon”. Apart from the Telethon, the 69 AFM-Téléthon departmental delegations are looking for people to participate in various missions, such as representing the association in local bodies, setting up convivial projects, listening to patients and their relatives or even participating in the delegation’s newspaper.
