Ophélie Bel describes this homemade scouring cream as “extraordinary“. She indicates that she “95% recommend this recipe” when asked for a product idea. To make it, you need 4 tablespoons of baking soda, 4 tablespoons of black soap, 2 tablespoons of white clay and 4 tablespoons of crystals soda.
In a salad bowl or mixing bowl, mix these four ingredients using a wooden spoon.so as not to alter the properties of clay“, explains Ophélie Bel. You should not wait too long because the mixture can quickly solidify. Then, take a jar and pour the mixture into it. You must then wait at least a day. Remember to use gloves when handling the soda crystals, whether for this recipe or another.
How to use this scouring cream?
After the 24 hours of rest, the scouring cream will not look like a cream but don’t panic, this is normal. In fact, it will be in a solid state. It is when used that it will return to its creamy appearance. “To take a little bit of the material from the mixture which will be completely solidified, you will need to take a mop which we will rinse with very hot water and remove by gently rubbing a few lumps of the preparation into the container“, explains Ophélie Bel. With contact with humidity, the mixture will soften and you can use it. You can use this preparation on many surfaces, such as tiles, wood, work surfaces, the taps or even the cooking plates, among others.
How long can I keep this homemade scouring cream?
If the quantity of product is a little too much for you, it doesn’t matter because it keeps for a very long time. So, if your jar is well closed and airtight, then you can keep the cream for several months. The process remains the same to take it each time you need it.
