Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne announced the introduction of a fuel allowance of 100 euros for half of households. How to perceive this new government aid?

This new government aid will be put in place from the beginning of 2023. Reserved for the most “modest”namely those included in the first five deciles of income, they will be around 10 million to receive this boost from the government.
“We are going to set up a fuel allowance for modest French people who need their car to go to work, so it’s 100 euros for about half of households, it represents a discount of around 10 cents per litre” detailed Elisabeth Borne. This calculation is based on an average of 12,000 km traveled per year. However, no kilometer limit between home and work will be imposed. A couple will be able to benefit from the aid twice and therefore receive 200 euros. For the State, this fuel allowance represents a blow “around one billion euros” specifies the Prime Minister, who insisted on underlining the importance of the effort.

How do I benefit from the fuel allowance?
To benefit from this new fuel allowance, if you are eligible for it, you must go to the tax website impots.gouv.fr. Then indicate its tax number as well as its place of registration and complete a declaration on honor to confirm that you need your car to get to your place of work. Then you will receive a transfer of 100 euros on your bank account.
The Prime Minister specifies that this aid applies to any type of vehicle, including two-wheelers. In the case of unemployed people who need to travel to look for a job, they can apply for this aid from Pôle emploi.
