How to play Starfield in advance without breaking the bank (too much)

Want to take advantage of early access to Starfield without having to pay full price? There is precisely a solution in this direction thanks to the Game Pass.

For this, you would normally have to go through the Premium edition, priced at the plump price of 99.99 euros on PC and 109.99 euros on Xbox Series X | S (30 euros more than the classic edition). But there is a way to acquire an “improvement” of the version of the game present on the Game Pass.

Economic early access…

Whether you want to experience Bethesda’s ambitious new space juggernaut on PC or Xbox Series X|S, it will be available on Xbox’s subscription service, as part of Microsoft’s takeover of the studio. It will therefore be possible to discover Starfield from September 6 simply by subscribing to Game Pass PC or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

By one or the other version of the Game Pass, it is thus possible to acquire the Premium edition of the game, and therefore to take advantage of the five-day early access. To do this, go to the Xbox store or the Xbox app on PC, and search for ” Starfield Premium Edition Upgrade “, offered at 34.99 euros, or 31.49 if you have subscribed to Game Pass.

This upgrade will allow you to take advantage of early access to Starfield more than half price compared to the pure and simple purchase of its Premium edition. In addition to the five days of early access, of which we have already had some feedback, this one includes the following content:

• Appearance Pack Old March ;
• Constellation Appearance Pack (laser rifle, suit, helmet and jetpack);
• Access to the game’s digital artbook and soundtrack;
• Extension Access Shattered Space (release date still undetermined).

Of course, such a deal is not without conditions.

Even if you have purchased the upgrade to the Premium edition of Starfield with the Game Pass, you will only be able to enjoy it if you keep your subscription to the Microsoft service. Once it expires, you will lose access to the game.

However, you will keep your in-game progress, digital artbook and soundtrack, downloaded separately. As for access to the game, appearance packs and the extension, when it is released, it will necessarily be necessary to relaunch a Game Pass subscription.

Everyone is therefore free to see which formula seems the most advantageous to them, between buying the game in box or digital version at a high price, but disposing of it as they wish, or going through the Game Pass, even if it means letting the subscription run when the need arises.
