Not content with having considerably lowered the price of charging on Superchargers in recent months, Tesla is today launching a free charging operation for all owners of its electric cars, but also those of other brands.
This Tuesday, August 29, 2023, recharges will be free on Tesla Superchargers everywhere in Europe, including France. The operation has been underway since 9 a.m. this morning and will end at 11:59 p.m. She marks the 10e anniversary of Tesla’s first European stations.
It was indeed on August 29, 2013 that the manufacturer launched its first six stations in Europe, more precisely in Norway. Since then, the network has continued to grow. After crossing 10,000 stations at the end of 2022, Tesla now has more than 13,000 in Europe.
Free Superchargers: how to take advantage of €0 charging on August 29, 2023?
If you own a Tesla electric car, all you have to do is go to any Supercharger station and start charging before midnight. Any top-up initiated until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday August 29 will therefore be free, even if you reach the full tank after midnight. Note that this freebie is not limited to Tesla owners.
Superchargers have recently been opened up to competing electric cars. If you have a model from another brand, simply search for a compatible station by selecting “Charge your non-Tesla vehicle” in the manufacturer’s application. To date, more than 9,200 Superchargers distributed in 660 stations are accessible to all electric cars in Europe. This constitutes the largest open ultra-fast charging network on the Old Continent.
All Supercharger users who do not own a Tesla are therefore eligible, including those who do not have a subscription allowing them to pay a reduced rate per kWh.
After an upward trend over the past two years, Tesla has significantly lowered charging prices in 2023 and in particular last May. The good news is therefore linked for lovers of electric in the context of soaring fuel prices. Expect heavy crowds at Tesla stations today, especially late in the day.
