Canal+ recommends a stable internet speed of 25 Mb/s to have access to UHD quality.

On Canal+

Canal+ has planned a historic device for the retransmission of the final of the Champions League, of which it also manages the production (since it takes place at the Stade de France). In addition to the usual Canal+ UHD stream (in 4K SDR), if you have a compatible TV and playback device, you can watch the match in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos (8.4 rendering) – which is what is better for the eyes and ears.

Here is the list of compatible devices :

  • Apple TV 4K 2nd generation (Dolby Vision);
  • Android TV boxes (depending on model);
  • Sony TVs (Dolby Vision, if compatible);
  • Hisense TVs (Dolby Vision, if compatible);
  • NVIDIA Shield (DolbyVision);
  • Amazon Fire TV Cube & Stick 4K (Dolby Vision).

Your TV is not compatible with Dolby Vision (example: Samsung products)? You will still have an HDR HLG broadcast. Some connected televisions may also be compatible with Dolby Vision and/or Dolby Atmos (we think of LG televisions). But it’s case by case.

Two 4K channels are offered by Canal+:

  • Canal+ UHDwhich includes Canal+ programs (including Canal Football Club), in 4K SDR.
  • Canal+ UEFA Champions League Final, which is just a 4K Dolby Vision stream, with no commentary and no ads. This channel will not be highlighted, you have to look for it in the tab Sport.

On mobile, Canal+ promises binaural rendering and Dolby Atmos, in headphones, on iOS (iPhone 7 and more) and Android devices.

On TF1

TF1 4K will broadcast the Champions League final in 4K UHD quality. It is available on the Bouygues (channel 37), Free (channel 101), Orange (channel 996) and SFR (channel 77) boxes.

No HDR on the program, however.

On RMC Sport

RMC Sport 4K will also offer 4K, but no HDR.
